Innovation from Syn-Bios: from cutting edge, sustainable solutions to IR reflective pigments, Syn-Bios has it all.
Enrico Gastaldello: «In Hong Kong we found that we received a good number of quality visitors, with many different levels of interest, mostly they were looking towards new technical innovations, but above this, there was a great desire to return to normality»
APLF Leather had not returned to its “birthplace”, Hong Kong, for five years now. «Despite all the difficulties and challenges we are all experiencing these days, we were able to observe an overall positive and optimistic feeling from our contacts at this event, both on a general level and for us – explains Enrico Gastaldello, General Manager of Syn-Bios SpA - mostly they were looking towards new technical innovations, but above this, there was a great desire to return to normality ».
What did you present?
«With our long experience at the APLF, we chose to focus on Ink for Leather® Spray technology. It is unique technology conceived by our company, which combines the resistance of the pigments with the natural look and feel of aniline dyes. A range of water-based-inks for the dyeing of leather in the finishing phase, which allows customers to obtain results exceptional results in aesthetic and physical properties. We also dedicated space on our stand, for our Ink for Leather® White, an equally special white chemical for drum-dyeing, which gives excellent white leather results, visible even in the wet-end. Additionally this product excels over traditional “white drum pigments”, as we can achieve much deeper penetration of the standard pigment: the white ink does not “only” remain on the surface, it is visible on cross sectional cutting, where it can be seen penetrating through the fibres, giving exceptional white leathers and improved properties of leathers where better covering of defects, allows the use of less finishing chemicals for many special effect finishes».
What are the peculiarities of this fair?
«APLF has historically been a very successful trade fair for us: Hong Kong itself, not only the “gateway to Asia”, but also a truly international event with a varied attendance from visitors from countries that are strategic for all our sectors. Attending APLF this year, the year of the return to the original location was an investment that fortunately proved very positive for Syn-Bios. Furthermore, it is encouraging to see that this exhibition seems to focus more on innovations regarding the chemical field than at other industry events. It is a still a more “technical” fair, where we have always found that Syn-Bios products and attitude to innovation and improvement in technology are a perfect match to our business model.».
What’s next?
«Amongst a long list of new developments from Syn-Bios we are especially proud of a new range of IR reflective pigments, entirely and specifically dedicated to the automotive industry: the NIR technology series is based on the technology of reflection of the spectrum of light in the “near Infrared”: simply put, these are pigments that help solar radiations to “rebound”, rejecting heat. Keeping car seats cooler in hot and sunny climates. A system that has found particular use in the interiors of high-value, top-of-the-range vehicles».
